About Daniel Spring Garden Resort

Paint Rock, Alabama traces its roots to the early 1820s, when the area was first settled and known as “Camden.” A post office was established in 1836, and as the community grew, rail connections helped it become a lively waypoint along the Paint Rock River valley. In 1876, local officials changed the town’s name to Paint Rock—a name tied to the distinctive painted bluffs that line the river—and in February 1894 the town was incorporated. Through the late 1800s and early 1900s, Paint Rock’s economy was shaped by industries that served both local families and travelers, including mills and factories such as a pencil mill, textile operations, and a chair-making industry that provided many jobs for decades. Like much of North Alabama, the community also faced setbacks, including devastating tornadoes—most notably the destructive 1932 storm—which altered the town’s downtown and changed its trajectory. Today, Paint Rock’s character still reflects that same hardworking spirit and connection to the land—where the river, limestone landscape, and surrounding countryside continue to inspire agriculture, recreation, and new local ventures in the spirit of its earlier generations.

At Daniel Spring, a Better Together Community, we believe that working together is better than trying to do everything alone. Every part of our community is designed to cultivate unity, cooperation, and shared purpose. We encourage one another to learn, teach, plant, harvest, construct, and build—because we believe that community is how we create a better way of living. We also believe that God created us to be creative. Just as God creates, we are called to create with intention, gratitude, and hope. We are deeply valued by Him—so much so that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down His life so we could have life and life more abundantly.

The culture we want to cultivate at Daniel Spring, a Better Together community, is grounded in working together in unity—Christ-centered in focus and shaped by a servant’s heart. We believe that work is good, and that God calls us to move forward with purpose. We’re beginning this journey with a small group of volunteers and workers focused on building one raised-bed planter—approximately 28 feet long and 8 feet wide. From there, we plan to continue constructing additional raised beds and gardens designed to produce agricultural and landscape products. As the first seeds take root and our farm plans come to fruition, we hope to expand into other Christ-centered activities, including tiny home construction, RV campsite hospitality, and creative workshops that teach—and help people apply—what we learn together. We feel truly blessed to begin this endeavor, and we’re excited to see what the Lord has in store for us. We also believe that “Seed Life” applies not only to what we grow, but to who we become. Like the mustard seed in Scripture, the smallest beginnings—paired with faith in action—can grow into something extraordinary.
